That is a great question to ask yourself when you’re looking to start a new campaign.  You might be very interested in your niche topic but not enough other people are…   I once saw an ad about bungee jumping when weddings!  How many people would be interested in doing that?  What products could you even sell? A good niche has one of two things, (or both would be better), a good volume of traffic or people with money ready to buy.

VOLUME OF TRAFFIC

A good sized market is better than a huge one.  I know that you probably thought the bigger the better but you would be wrong eight out of ten times.  Not great odds for starting a niche.  If the market is too big then you will have to be better than a lot of people who are out there trying to go for that market.  Its easier to do well in a market like chihuahua dog training than dog training.   Another reason is it is easier to create an alliance with your competitors than to go head to head with them, (selling something compatible to there product).

You also want to be “The Authority” in you sub niche market.  Too many people in the bigger market makes that extremely difficult to do.  Of course if you already are “The Authority” in something, then you could probably get away with it…  Being honest with yourself is a great thing when starting a niche market

When you are researching your niche it is a good idea to go to:   http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/ and check the amount of searches.  Just so you know, sometimes the tool I just gave you to use doesn’t show up, (blank page), just try it again a few minutes later and it should work…

What you are looking for is a search volume is between around 40,000 to 200,000 a month.  This is a benchmark that you will have to decide for yourself.  I do know some internet marketers who have great success with only 15,000 searches a month, but they have been at it for years and know a few dozen checks that can only really be learned over time.  If you are new, then I suggest you stick to my numbers.

A BUYING NICHE MARKET

Think about the mindset of your market.  If your niche is “stop your chihuahua from barking” or “keep your chihuahua from chewing your shoes”, etc. then the people will probably be ready to buy.  ALWAYS put yourself in your customers shoes.

You must think about things like: What is the age of my market?  Are they men, women?  Then you need to market to your demographic’s needs.  Remember that your market must have money to by your products.  If the main people who are searching for your niche are teenagers, how many of them will have money to buy your product?  Of course there are exceptions to the rule.  Teenagers and cell phones go hand in hand.  The will by ring-tones and other things that teenagers will by that older people might not.

I will most likely buy the pro version later, and when I do I will of course let you know how much better it works.  I will use the free version for now so I can get a good idea about how well this one works, then be able to compare it honestly with the pro (paid) version.

marketing program I bought to find this out. Please DO
NOT make this same mistake.

Your first course is extremely important. The goal is not
only to learn but to implement what you have learned.
If you don’t start putting what you have learned into
action, then you will have a much harder time becoming
successful…

I know that some people on the net don’t like these type
of clubs. I used to wonder why, but then I talked to a
few different internet marketers in forums. Some told
me that they actually did learn from these programs.
They only say they don’t like them because they are not
promoting that type of program. You will have to make
up your own mind about who to believe.

Once you have learned all you can from the club that
you join, then it will be time to move on to another
type of learning course. You should already have a
website up and running by then. By looking at what
is working in your business and what isn’t, you can
then make an informed decision on what type of
program you should buy next.

Will you need to do better on keywords, ppc, email
marketing, seo, or article marketing? From talking
to people in forums, it seems to me that people will
have different strengths and weaknesses. Only by
being honest with yourself will you know which is
going to be best for you.

There is a lot more still to learn. When I started I had no idea what I was getting myself into. LOL When it comes to internet marketing, if you stop learning you are falling way behind. Every time I think I have learned everything about one aspect of making a living online someone decides to change it. Can You Succeed All By Yourself?

I would have to say NO! I had heard about people making lots of money online quickly and easily. I thought that being a fairly smart person, I would be able to figure it out quickly by myself. What a rude awaking I had… Internet marketing isn’t that easy. After loosing about $1000 or so, I realized that I needed help.

What Kind Of Help Did I Find?

I bought an Internet marketing course fairly cheap. To be fair it did help some. It taught me that most courses will teach you, but they leave something out…. So of course, being me (stubborn as all heck, remember?), I bought another course. It taught me a few things the first didn’t. It also left out a few things the first had in it, sigh.

Did It Pay Off In The End?

Yes, it did. I did make a little bit of money after the first two courses, but I knew I still had a lot more to learn. You
most likely guest it, I bought another course. Yes I’m really that stubborn…. This time I got lucky. I bought not just a course but joined an internet marketing club. After my first month In the club I was able to really start making money!!!
